The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is in the process of updating its long-range transportation plan, with a focus on public and stakeholder participation. This initiative includes online feedback opportunities and in-person events across the state during the summer and fall.

This effort aims to shape "Transportation Connection Update: 2025-2050," which will guide transportation policies and investments over the next 25 years. The NDDOT seeks input from residents to help define the state's future vision, values, goals, and strategies for its transportation system.

"Every North Dakotan, in every part of the state, deserves a transportation system that works for them," stated Ron Henke, NDDOT director. "Updating Transportation Connection gives us the chance to incorporate public input as we shape a transportation future that’s safe, reliable and well-connected for everyone."

Residents are encouraged to attend public meetings or participate online through a newly updated project webpage at www.dot.nd.gov/transportation-connection. Here they can provide feedback on improving the state's transportation system.

The project webpage also offers a survey on transportation priorities and an option to sign up for email updates. The draft plan is expected by Spring 2026, followed by a statewide public comment period. Feedback is welcome throughout the development phase via the website, at engagement events, or by emailing dotplanning@nd.gov.
