The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced nearly $3.5 million in grants for airport infrastructure projects at several airports across North Dakota. The funding, totaling $3,493,701, comes from the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program.
The allocations include $585,000 to Watford City Municipal Airport Authority for the construction of a new 2,700 square foot snow removal equipment building. This grant will fund the final phase of the project, which involves site work, an access driveway, and mechanical systems for the building.
Langdon Municipal Airport Authority is set to receive $584,324 to construct a new 1,739-foot Taxiway B and expand the existing East Apron by 1,352 square yards. The grant covers the last phase of construction on 328 feet of runway.
Cooperstown Municipal Airport Authority will get $536,000 for a new 164-foot South Taxilane and rehabilitation work on Taxiway A and center Apron pavement. These efforts are intended to maintain structural integrity and minimize debris.
Lakota Airport Authority has been awarded $415,285 to rehabilitate 738 feet of Taxiway A for similar safety improvements.
Cavalier Municipal Airport Authority is receiving $333,500 to rehabilitate 3,300 feet of Runway 16/34. The funds support runway rehabilitation and associated grading and engineering work in its final phase.
Other grants include:
- $263,150 to Mohall for drainage improvements and wetland mitigation,
- $248,251 to Wahpeton Airport Authority for taxiway lighting upgrades,
- $218,000 to Adams County Airport Authority for resealing taxiways,
- $163,200 to Tioga Municipal Airport Authority for pavement resealing on hangar taxilanes and connectors,
- And $146,991 to Kenmare Airport Authority for replacing snow removal equipment.
According to the FAA release: "The AIG Program was established by the fully-paid-for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to provide airports with funding for modernization and safety projects. Since its creation, airports in North Dakota have received over $50 million in program funding."
