Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) has been named one of Prairie Business magazine’s 50 Best Places to Work for 2025. The selection is based on nominations from employees in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota, who evaluated their workplaces on factors such as culture, growth opportunities, teamwork, and morale.

President and CEO Dan Conrad commented on the recognition: “This honor is a testament to the people who make BCBSND a truly special place to work. Our culture is built on compassion, collaboration and a shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of our communities.”

The organization emphasizes its people-first approach by fostering an environment that supports career development while upholding values like integrity, collaboration, service excellence, responsible stewardship, enthusiasm, and innovation. BCBSND also encourages community involvement through its Caring Foundation. Employees are given paid volunteer time and can participate in local programs including United Way initiatives, Meals on Wheels deliveries, and school mentorship efforts.

Founded in 1940, BCBSND operates as an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. It aims to provide affordable health care access throughout North Dakota while working toward better outcomes and lower costs for members statewide. The company offers customer service at the local level along with access to a broad network of providers across the state, nation, and internationally in more than 190 countries.
