All hay bales located on North Dakota highway rights of way must be cleared by Saturday, November 1, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT). The department states that any hay bales left after this deadline will be removed by district engineers.
The NDDOT cites snow management and safety as the main reasons for the removal. "Hay bales remaining on rights of way after this date will be removed as directed by the North Dakota Department of Transportation district engineers. The bales need to be removed for snow management and safety reasons," the department said.
This requirement applies to all highway rights of way across the state.
