The U.S. Senate has approved an agreement to fund the government and pass three full-year appropriations bills, which include provisions for agriculture and veterans. Senator John Hoeven, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, played a role in negotiating the package.
In a statement following the vote, Hoeven said: "The Senate has come together to end the shutdown and provide certainty for our farmers, ranchers and veterans. As Chairman of the Agriculture Appropriations Committee, I worked to ensure strong support for our producers and rural communities while also making sure we meet our commitments to our nation’s veterans."
The final legislation includes funding for Fiscal Year 2026 Agriculture Appropriations. This move is expected to help avoid disruptions in government services and programs that support key sectors such as agriculture and veteran affairs.
