The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) will introduce new traffic patterns utilizing temporary loop ramps at the Interstate 94 (Exit 161) interchange starting the week of May 5, 2025. This adjustment is part of an ongoing project aimed at improving the traffic flow in the area.
The new traffic configuration involves temporary loop ramps that will impact how drivers access the I-94 from Centennial Road and Bismarck Expressway. According to details provided, drivers on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will use a temporary loop to enter I-94 West, as the existing westbound on-ramp will undergo reconstruction. Similarly, drivers exiting I-94 East towards Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will also transition to a temporary loop off-ramp, with the current eastbound off-ramp to be closed for reconstruction. Meanwhile, drivers accessing I-94 East or exiting I-94 West will use the existing ramps.

The ongoing construction is part of a larger redesign project initiated in spring 2024, expected to run through summer 2026. The project’s aim is to enhance traffic flow by eliminating left-turn movements and adding efficient right-turn loops.
