The University of North Dakota track and field teams achieved two new school records and earned six medals on May 15 during the second day of the 2026 Summit League Outdoor Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.

The women’s team leads with 107 points after seven events, marking their first outright lead entering the final day since joining the league in 2018-19. The men’s team holds fifth place with 34 points through eight events.

Jadyn Keeler set a new school, conference, and facility record in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:00.45. Frida Giersdorff finished second in that event and also set a facility record at 10:27.38. Shane Zierden broke his own men’s long jump record by more than a foot with a leap of 25-02.00 (7.67m), becoming both the first UND male and only Summit League competitor to surpass 25 feet this season.

Eucabeth Kivikangas took silver in the women’s heptathlon with 5,085 points while Anya Williams finished second in the women’s high jump at 5-05.75 (1.67m). On the men’s side, Louis-Lys Fanucchi placed second in the men’s steeplechase at 9:14.29 to rank fifth all-time for UND.

UND had four scorers in women’s shot put—Julia Matthews, Justina Esangbedo, Kajsa Cabanas Andersson, and Haidyn Skeen—while several athletes advanced to finals from preliminary races including Marta Marksa (women’s hurdles) and Ryan Lange (men’s hurdles).

A team champion will be determined tomorrow as competition concludes at Terrance Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex.
