Williston State College announces hiring of vice president of business services

Williston State College announced on May 11 the appointment of Hercules Cummings as its new Vice President of Business Services. Cummings will assume his role on June 1, succeeding Deb Halvorson, who is set to retire at the end of May.

The announcement marks a leadership transition for Williston State College, which serves the Williston area and surrounding communities with higher education opportunities, according to the official website.

Cummings brings over 13 years of senior management experience in finance, auditing, and business operations. He most recently served as Finance Director and City Auditor for the City of Williston for six years. In this position, he managed financial strategy, budgeting, and auditing processes. His professional background also includes work in real estate and oil and gas industries in the region. Additionally, he has entrepreneurial experience as a co-owner of a coffee shop in Las Vegas and served six years in the United States Navy.

Cummings holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Colorado Technical University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Technology from Excelsior College. He maintains several certifications related to finance. He was also recognized by the Williston Chamber of Commerce through its “Twenty Under Forty” program for his leadership contributions.
