Considering planting a tree? Fall is a great time to do it! Ideally, fall transplanting should be completed while soil temperatures are still warm enough to allow for several weeks of root growth into the new soil. Check out the map below to see the ideal fall planting dates in your area of the state. Planting beyond the recommended dates certainly may work, but the chance of success decreases later in the year. Whenever planting a new tree, be sure to keep the roots moist!
