WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced the National Telecommunications and Information Administration awarded Dakota Carrier Network (DCN) $19,710,574 through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program. This funding will add middle mile fiber routes to facilitate additional redundancy, resiliency, and network survivability. It will also upgrade electronics to support the increased network demand.

“Enhancing reliable internet is essential to North Dakota’s workforce, economic development, and communities,” said Senator Cramer. “This funding from the bipartisan infrastructure bill ensures those in our state, especially in rural areas, are connected without disruptions.”

Established in 1996, Dakota Carrier Network has developed a unique partnership between 13 owner companies, helping businesses, banks, hospitals, and government entities rely on their technology to deliver connectivity to North Dakota. DCN and their owners have 65,000 miles of fiber deployed across the state and employs more than 1,000 people who reside, work in, and contribute to the local community.
