The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration has allocated $2,950,000 for terminal expansion projects at two North Dakota airports. Hector International Airport will receive $2,000,000 to proceed with Phase 3 of its expansion plan. This phase includes constructing four new gates, rehabilitating holding rooms, and expanding ticket and baggage handling areas. The North Dakota delegation previously advocated for this project by writing a letter to the DOT in August.

Northwood Municipal Airport-Vince Field is set to receive $950,000 for the construction of a new 650 square foot general aviation terminal building that will comply with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer commented on the funding: “This award is a step toward the completion of the expansion projects at Hector International Airport, giving Fargo residents and visitors coming to North Dakota a better, safer travel experience.” He emphasized that such infrastructure improvements enhance safety, increase air service capacity, and support economic growth in North Dakota.

These funds are part of the FAA’s Airport Terminals Program (ATP), created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to aid airport terminal modernization efforts. Earlier this year, an additional $10 million from ATP was secured by the delegation for Hector’s terminal expansion project.
