Senator John Hoeven has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is providing nearly $3 million in grants to support terminal expansion projects at Hector International Airport and Northwood Municipal Airport-Vince Field. This funding aims to accommodate the growing demand for air services in these regions.
The grants include $2 million allocated to Hector International Airport. The funds will be used to construct four new gates, rehabilitate and expand holding rooms, and enhance the ticket and baggage handling area. Senator Hoeven has been actively working on securing federal funding for this project, having already secured nearly $36 million.
Northwood Municipal Airport-Vince Field will receive $950,000 for a new 650-square-foot general aviation terminal building designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
Senator Hoeven commented on the importance of these expansions: “The Fargo-Moorhead and Northwood regions are rapidly growing, both in terms of population and in economic activity. That means greater demand for air service and the need for updates and added facilities at Hector International and Northwood Airports.”
Earlier this year, Senator Hoeven led efforts by the North Dakota delegation to request support from the Department of Transportation's Airport Terminals Program for Fargo’s terminal expansion project.
