The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol have announced the closure of Interstate 29 from Grand Forks to the Canadian border. The decision was made due to blowing snow, icy road conditions, and near-zero visibility.

Motorists are advised that traveling on a closed road is prohibited because of life-threatening conditions. A No Travel Advisory has been issued for several counties in northeast North Dakota.

Secondary roads across the state may also become blocked or impassable as significant snowfall and high winds create severe snow drifts on highways. These drifts are particularly common around structures and sheltered areas. Vehicles risk becoming stranded, and emergency responders may face challenges reaching those in need safely.

For updated information on road conditions throughout North Dakota, individuals can call 511 or visit the ND Roads map at travel.dot.nd.gov.
