Senator John Hoeven released a statement following the confirmation of Lee Zeldin as the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by the U.S. Senate.
"Lee Zeldin has the right experience and record to lead the EPA and make sure that the agency’s regulations work in the real world," Hoeven stated. He emphasized Zeldin's commitment to reducing unnecessary regulations, specifically mentioning "the Waters of the U.S." and other rules that have affected energy producers, farmers, ranchers, and private property owners.
Hoeven acknowledged the importance of environmental protection but criticized previous efforts as excessive. "We all want clean air and water, but the EPA under the previous administration has gone overboard," he remarked. The senator expressed his anticipation for collaboration with Administrator Zeldin to address what he views as regulatory overreach by the agency.
