Senator John Hoeven, along with Senators Ted Cruz and Edward J. Markey, has reintroduced the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act. This legislation aims to ensure that automakers maintain AM broadcast radio in new vehicles without additional charges. The bill directs the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to enforce this requirement.

Senator Hoeven emphasized the importance of AM radio for residents of North Dakota, particularly during power outages caused by severe weather conditions. "AM radio is essential for North Dakotans, especially during weather-related disruptions in power. It provides dependable emergency updates, helping to keep Americans safe," he stated.

The proposed legislation seeks to preserve access to AM radio's diverse offerings, which include music, sports, current events, and crucial emergency broadcasts. Senator Hoeven highlighted that "this legislation guarantees that this critical service remains in vehicles," ensuring that individuals have access to vital information and entertainment when it is most needed.
