Fifth and sixth-grade educators in North Dakota are invited to apply for sugar science kits as part of Ag Literacy Week, scheduled for March 17-21, 2025. The initiative is a collaboration between the North Dakota Ag in the Classroom Program and the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring stated, "I encourage educators to take advantage of this opportunity to embed agriculture into their classrooms." He emphasized that students will engage with agriculture and science through STEM activities aligned with North Dakota standards. With upcoming state and national agricultural celebrations in March, he noted it is an ideal time to introduce these materials.

The first 25 qualified educators who apply will receive the kits. These include resources related to science, technology, engineering, and math. Educators have until April 23, 2025, to utilize the kits for educational purposes. They are required to complete follow-up surveys from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture for reporting purposes. Applications can be submitted at https://www.ndda.nd.gov/sugarscience.

For further information, interested parties can contact Agriculture Business Development Coordinator Heather Lang at 701-328-2308 or hlang@nd.gov.
