North Dakota's spring light goose conservation order is set to begin on February 15 and will continue until May 11. Residents are required to have either a 2024-25 license, valid through March 31, or a 2025-26 license, which becomes necessary starting April 1. Alternatively, they can possess a small game and general game and habitat license. Resident youth under the age of 16 only need the general game and habitat license. The new licenses for the period of 2025-26 will be available for purchase beginning March 15.

Nonresidents must obtain a specific license for the spring light goose conservation order in 2025, priced at $50 and valid across the state. Those who hunt during the spring season remain eligible to purchase a fall season license as well. Importantly, this spring hunting license does not count against the regulation limiting nonresident hunters to a maximum of 14 days during the fall waterfowl hunting season.

For nonresident youth under age 16, licenses can be purchased at resident rates.

It is noteworthy that neither residents nor nonresidents are required to have a federal duck stamp for participation in this hunting order.

Licenses for both residents and nonresidents can be acquired online via the North Dakota Game and Fish Department's website at gf.nd.gov.

All hunters must register annually with the Harvest Information Program before engaging in hunting activities within each state. The HIP number obtained for North Dakota’s spring conservation order remains valid for its fall hunting season as well. This number can also be obtained online through the Game and Fish website.
