NFIB, the National Federation of Independent Business, has expressed gratitude towards Governor Doug Burgum following his State of the State address. Alison Ritter, NFIB's State Director in North Dakota, emphasized the support small business owners feel from the governor.
"Small business owners across the state are taking comfort knowing that they have a governor who is such a strong advocate for advancing the needs of small business owners," said Alison Ritter. "Gov. Burgum is committed to cutting taxes and holding the line on state spending. He realizes the challenges that small business owners face right now: from worker shortages to supply chain issues due to inflation."
A recent survey by NFIB indicates that many small businesses are finding it difficult to expand their workforce. Half of these businesses have increased compensation, marking a 48-year record high and an increase from December figures. Many positions remain unfilled, with around half of the businesses having already raised wages to attract workers and another 27% planning to do so within three months.
