Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak from North Dakota expressed her congratulations to Kirsten Baesler, who has been nominated for the position of Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education. Baesler currently serves as North Dakota's Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Fedorchak stated, "Kirsten has dedicated her entire career to education. No one is better suited or experienced to help break down the barriers for children, parents, and teachers seeking high quality education. Her leadership and tenacity will push for reforms that help children get the education they need and deserve to pursue their dreams and lead our nation in the future. Baesler has led North Dakota’s Department of Public Instruction since January 2013 and was re-elected to this role in November 2024. Prior to this position, she spent 24 years with Bismarck Public Schools, achieving the rank of Vice Principal. Baesler also served on the Mandan School Board for nine years, including seven years as its president.
