North Dakota offers edamame trail mix kits for elementary school curriculum

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced the availability of funding for teachers in grades 2-3 through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. This initiative aims to integrate edamame trail mix kits into classroom curricula.

"The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is seeking teachers interested in bringing this STEM learning opportunity into their classrooms," stated Goehring. "April is National Soy Foods Month, and students will learn about soybeans and other North Dakota specialty crops, and their importance in agriculture in North Dakota."

Teachers wishing to receive these kits can find detailed information and application forms at https://www.ndda.nd.gov/trailmixkits. Applications must be submitted electronically by Friday, March 28, 2025. Those selected will be informed by March 31, 2025, with kits being dispatched by early April.
