North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced the resignation of Deputy Commissioner Sara Stolt. Interim Commissioner Dirk Wilke thanked Stolt for her six years of service to North Dakota, noting her last day will be April 30.

Stolt began her service with North Dakota as a transformation manager for Human Services in February 2019. She transitioned to the role of chief operations officer in December 2019 and later joined the integration leadership team. She was appointed deputy commissioner in September 2022.

Wilke expressed gratitude for Stolt's contributions, saying, "I'm grateful for Sara’s contributions and dedication to supporting North Dakotans. Her tenure has been defined by bold transformation, strategic innovation and a deep commitment to improving services across the state."

Stolt played a key role in transforming county social services into regional human service zones to enhance service delivery and accountability across the state. Her efforts also included advancing improvements in child welfare related to foster care, adoption, and licensing. She established the agency’s Transformation Office to maintain progress and steer organizational change.

Stolt is leaving her role at HHS to take a leadership position with Noridian Healthcare Solutions.
