The Greater North Dakota Chamber (GNDC) has announced the panel of judges for the 2025 National Civics Bee North Dakota State Finals. The event is scheduled for July 11 in Bismarck and aims to promote civics education among middle school students across the state.
The competition will feature students engaging in a quiz-style format that tests their knowledge of civics, problem-solving abilities, and community engagement skills. The panel of judges includes Cory Fong, Director of External Affairs at MDU Resources Group; Greta Silewski, Project Consultant at Thales USA; and Marie Buchli, Vice President of Regional Operations at Junior Achievement North.
“These judges represent leadership across energy, innovation, and education,” said Arik Spencer, President and CEO of GNDC. “We’re grateful for their willingness to serve and share their perspectives as they help us recognize and elevate student voices in civic engagement during this impactful competition.”
The event will consist of two rounds of civics questions followed by a Q&A segment designed to showcase students' civic thought leadership and practical solutions to community issues. Winners from the state finals will move on to compete in the National Civics Bee Championship in Washington, D.C., where they will vie for scholarships including a grand prize worth $100,000 in a 529 college savings plan.
Credentialed media are invited to cover the event taking place at the University of Mary in Bismarck. For more information about the event, visit ndchamber.com/nationalcivicsbee.
