The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has opened applications for the Flexible Transportation Fund (Flex Fund) program. This initiative, approved by the 69th Legislative Assembly, marks the second round of funding aimed at enhancing North Dakota's infrastructure. The Flex Fund will allocate approximately $116 million in grants to local public agencies, focusing on reducing long-term maintenance and operational costs while improving connectivity, efficiency, and safety within the state's transportation network.
"There was a very high interest among local partners during the initial Flex Fund rollout," stated NDDOT Director Ron Henke. "We look forward to continuing to work with our local partners to enhance the transportation system statewide with this next round."
This iteration of the Flex Fund includes grants and formula distribution targeted specifically at non-oil townships, non-oil counties and cities, as well as bridges. These funds are intended to supplement traditional funding sources and expedite project delivery.
A webinar is scheduled for July 22 at 10 a.m. Central Time to discuss program changes and application procedures, with an opportunity for questions from participants. The deadline for submitting applications is September 19, 2025.
