The North Dakota Industrial Commission (NDIC) has opened the application period for its new enhanced oil recovery (EOR) grant program, managed through the Oil and Gas Research Program. Applications are due by August 15, 2025, and must be submitted via email.
Projects seeking funding must show potential to develop commercially viable EOR methods that can be applied in the Bakken play and other conventional reservoirs across North Dakota. The program will consider projects using CO2, hydrocarbon gases, natural gas liquids, surfactants, or other innovative injectant combinations.
Funding for this initiative comes from a $25 million appropriation made by the 69th Legislative Assembly through Senate Bill 2014. There may also be additional support available under regular Oil and Gas Research Program funding.
Grant rounds are scheduled throughout the biennium: the first deadline is August 15, 2025; the second is January 15, 2026; and the third is June 15, 2026. All funded projects must be completed by June 30, 2027. Private matching funds are required for all grants.
The Oil and Gas Research Council assists NDIC with administering this program. The date and location of its next meeting have not yet been set.
