NDDOT invites public input on draft 2026-2029 transportation improvement plan

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has opened the draft version of its 2026-2029 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for public comment. The draft will be available for review from August 15 to September 15, 2025.

The STIP outlines a four-year plan for transportation projects that use federal highway and transit funding. The program covers improvements on state and county highways, urban streets, safety features, bikeways, and transit initiatives.

Members of the public can access the draft STIP online at the NDDOT website by navigating to “Construction & Planning” and then “Transportation Plans & Programs.” Printed copies are also available at NDDOT district offices. Requests for individual copies can be directed to Michael Wilz in the NDDOT Programming Division at 701-328-4457.

Comments regarding the draft should be submitted by September 15. Submissions can be sent to any of the listed NDDOT district contacts or emailed to dot@nd.gov with “Draft STIP” in the subject line.

District office contacts include Larry Gangl in Bismarck, Jay Praska in Valley City, Wyatt Hanson in Devils Lake, Korby Seward in Minot, Rob Rayhorn in Dickinson, Ed Pavlish in Grand Forks, Joel Wilt in Williston, and Aaron Murra in Fargo.
