The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has announced the fall turkey season, offering 4,310 licenses to hunters. This is a decrease of 235 licenses compared to the previous year.

According to the department, license availability varies by hunting unit. One of the 21 units will see an increase in licenses, eight units will have fewer licenses than last year, and 12 units remain unchanged.

Unit 21, which covers Hettinger and Adams counties, had been closed for several years due to a low turkey population caused by poor habitat conditions. This unit has now been extended into units 44 and 06 to provide more hunting opportunities.

Hunters interested in applying for a license can do so online at the North Dakota Game and Fish website (gf.nd.gov). The application deadline is September 3.
