A new parking ramp at Hector International Airport was officially opened during a ribbon-cutting event attended by Senator John Hoeven and other local, state, and federal officials. The ramp is part of a larger terminal expansion project aimed at increasing capacity and improving service for the Fargo-Moorhead area. The full project will include an expanded terminal with nine gates, upgraded apron space, and a parking garage connected by an elevated walkway. Completion is expected in 2027.

Senator Hoeven, who serves on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, has secured $53 million in federal funding for the expansion so far. Efforts are ongoing to obtain the remaining $17 million required to fully fund the project.

“The Fargo region is growing fast, and that means more travelers, more flights, and more demand for modern infrastructure like this new parking ramp. With around 1,000 parking spaces, this garage is an important milestone in increasing the capacity of Hector International, complementing the ongoing terminal expansion,” said Hoeven. “Importantly, we’ve worked to secure $53 million in federal funding to advance this expansion, and we’re pushing to deliver the final $17 million needed to complete it. This investment will help Hector International keep pace with record traffic and support continued economic growth across the region.”

The airport's improvements are designed to accommodate rising passenger numbers as population and travel demand increase in the Fargo-Moorhead region.
