The U.S. Department of Defense has increased its contract with General Dynamics by $17.5 million, bringing the total value to over $1.14 billion. The funds will support work on the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), focusing on ground management, integration, operation, and sustainment efforts.
Work related to this contract will take place in Grand Forks, North Dakota; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Huntsville, Alabama. The project is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2027.
Of the newly awarded funds, $8.75 million from Fiscal Year 2025 research, development, testing, and evaluation budgets are being obligated immediately. The Space Development Agency (SDA) serves as the contracting organization for this effort.
Grand Forks Air Force Base is home to SDA’s ground-based Operations Center North where PWSA satellites are operated.
“With Grand Forks’ vital warfighting and ground-based capabilities, North Dakota is harnessing innovation and bolstering its national defense presence,” said Senator Kevin Cramer. “This contract modification will significantly invest in Grand Forks and support the brave men and women as they execute these missions to ensure our warfighters have the capabilities they need as quickly as possible.”
