Amtrak has completed more than $30 million in upgrades at five train stations in North Dakota, aiming to improve accessibility and bring the facilities into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to Amtrak, the upgrades were made at stations in Devils Lake, Fargo, Rugby, Stanley, and Williston. The improvements include new boarding platforms equipped with snowmelt systems, accessible paths between stations and parking areas, sloped walkways, safety barriers, energy-efficient LED lighting, detectable warning systems, new signage, and refreshed station interiors.

A total of $10.4 million was invested in the Rugby station for a 750-foot boarding platform with a snowmelt system and accessible routes. The Williston station received $10 million for a 700-foot boarding platform and related improvements. Devils Lake and Fargo stations each received $4.5 million for new platforms and accessibility features. The Stanley station received $400,000 for an accessible path, warning system repairs, updated signage, and interior refreshes.

A statement provided said: “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is still delivering for North Dakota,” “It’s great to see Amtrak stations across the state receive some much-needed upgrades. These funds at the Devils Lake, Fargo, Rugby, Stanley, and Williston stations will go a long way increasing safety and accessibility for travelers.”
