The U.S. Department of Energy has announced nearly $3.8 million in funding for North Dakota to support energy saving initiatives. The funding includes $2,452,161 designated for retrofit programs, $311,906 allocated to Weatherization Readiness Funds, and $544,548 set aside for Training & Technical Assistance Allocation.

Additionally, the department is providing $512,360 through the State Energy Program. These funds are intended to help maintain energy reliability and security while also delivering cost savings to both businesses and residents in North Dakota.

According to the announcement, President Trump’s plan for American energy dominance has led to changes in how weatherization and other energy program grants are awarded. The new approach prohibits consideration of the social cost of carbon and similar criteria during the application process. The stated goal is "to ensure the limited grant funding meets program objectives."
