The U.S. Department of Education has awarded nearly $1.4 million to three colleges in North Dakota to support Indian education and professional development programs. The grants are intended to train Native students for roles as teachers and administrators, as well as help students at tribal colleges and universities pursue careers serving Native communities.

The funding will be allocated among the institutions as follows: $500,000 to the University of Mary, $472,340 to Sitting Bull College, and $425,010 to Turtle Mountain College.

These grants come from the Indian Education Professional Development Grants program, which aims to increase the number of qualified Native educators and professionals working within their communities.
