Two museums in North Dakota have been awarded a total of $111,208 in federal funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Cass County Historical Society will receive $86,208 through the Museums for America grant. This funding is intended to help the museum enhance access to its historical collections, archives, and educational programs. With these funds, the society plans to hire additional staff who will inventory, assess, and catalog nearly 30,000 artifacts over a three-year period.

The Ward County Historical Society has been allocated $25,000 from the Inspire! Grants for Small Museums program. The grant will be used to inventory, organize, and digitize its collection of more than 2,000 objects, photographs, and books related to North Dakota. The goal is to create an easily accessible archive as the museum continues to expand.

According to IMLS representatives, these grants are part of ongoing efforts to support local museums in improving public access to historical resources and strengthening their capacity for preservation.
