Beginning Friday, October 3, traffic on U.S. Highway 83/South Broadway in Minot will be shifted to the southbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration as the northbound lanes close for culvert replacement work, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT). The shift is dependent on weather conditions.

At the same time, the exit ramp from eastbound U.S. Highway 2 onto U.S. 83/South Broadway is expected to reopen for motorists. All other interchange ramps will remain open and operate as usual.

The culvert replacement project on Highway 83 began August 4 and is scheduled for completion in November 2025. The upgrades are intended to improve drainage, enhance safety, and extend the life of the roadway.

Motorists traveling through the area are advised by NDDOT to stay alert, follow posted signs, and watch for equipment and workers within the construction zone.

"As the project progresses, the NDDOT will continue to provide timely updates on traffic patterns and road conditions. For updates, visit dot.nd.gov/Highway83," stated NDDOT.
