The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has announced that the intersection at 46th Avenue SE and Memorial Highway in Mandan is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, September 30. Once this intersection reopens, work will shift to the south side of the 40th Avenue SE and Memorial Highway intersection, which is set to close starting Wednesday morning, October 1.
The closure at 40th Avenue SE will allow construction crews to carry out major infrastructure upgrades. These include building a new concrete roadway with curb and gutter, installing a storm sewer and water main along 40th Avenue SE, connecting sanitary sewers, replacing an old lift station with a new facility, and adding updated traffic signals and lighting.
While through traffic on Memorial Highway will not be affected by the closure, access from Memorial Highway to southbound 40th Avenue SE will be unavailable for about three weeks. No detour routes are planned during this period. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes as needed.
"Following the opening of 46th Avenue SE, the south side of the 40th Avenue SE and Memorial Highway intersection is expected to close Wednesday morning, Oct. 1, to allow crews to complete significant infrastructure improvements. Through traffic on Memorial Highway will not be affected; however, southbound access to 40th Avenue SE from Memorial Highway will be closed," stated NDDOT.
Further updates on this project can be found at dot.nd.gov/memorialhwy or through official City of Mandan and NDDOT social media channels.
