Congressman Kelly Armstrong introduced a bill to “Authorize the Keystone XL Pipeline.”
The bill follows President Joe Biden’s revocation of Keystone XL Pipeline’s permit, which according to Armstrong would decrease employment.
“President Biden's decision to revoke the Keystone XL Pipeline permit is an attack on the way of life for thousands of people who rely on energy production to feed their families,” Armstrong said in a press release.
He guaranteed that “pipelines are safe and Keystone XL has earned all necessary permits,” and that it would also provide reliable energy and “thousands of American jobs in the process.”
“TransCanada Keystone Pipeline, L.P., may construct, connect, operate, and maintain the pipeline facilities at the international border of the United States and Canada at Phillips County, Montana, for the import of oil from Canada to the United States described in the Presidential Permit of March 29, 2019,” the bill read.
The Keystone XL Pipeline, according to the press release, is projected to bring “approximately 11,000 jobs and up to 60,000 indirect and supporting jobs.”
The congressman opposing the president’s action said that “we must do everything we can to see this terrible decision reversed and fight for energy policies that help move North Dakota and our nation forward.”
“Let’s build it,” Armstrong tweeted.
Armstrong was joined by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and 83 other Republicans.
