A section of Miriam Avenue, located east of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway in Bismarck, will close starting the first week of September. The closure is part of the ongoing Interstate 94 Exit 161 Interchange project. During this period, drivers will be rerouted via Revere Drive and Hancock Drive.
The affected stretch will stay closed until concrete work in the area is finished. Lane closures are also continuing on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway. Additionally, the City of Bismarck plans to close a segment of Divide Avenue nearby during this time.
Businesses in the area will remain accessible, but motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes, especially if traveling to locations such as the landfill or other destinations east of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway.
Officials advise drivers to follow posted signs and remain cautious due to ongoing construction activity.
The I-94 Exit 161 Interchange project started in spring 2024 and is scheduled for completion by summer 2026. The improvements aim to enhance traffic flow by removing two left-turn movements and adding right-turn loops for greater efficiency. NDDOT stated: "NDDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure project moves forward."
