According to PEW Charitable Trusts, an average of $6.54 is saved for every $1 spent on mitigation activities in North Dakota. 

As part of the FEMA's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program, the City of Mandan, was approved to purchase and install emergency generators at two city operated lift stations. The project was closed by NDDES and FEMA this summer and will help protect Mandan residents from long-term power outages by supplying emergency power to the wastewater lift stations.
