Tree rings don't just tell us the age of the tree

Tree rings don't just tell us the age of the tree-- it gives us clues about the tree's life and the world around it. 

Look closely at the tree rings  Thinning is used to help alleviate overcrowding and reduce wildfire risks. By removing selected trees, thinning reduces the competition for sunlight, water, and nutrients. This helps the remaining trees stay healthy and grow faster.
