The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has announced the closure of the state's 2025 paddlefish snagging season for additional harvest. The closure will take effect on May 9 at 7 p.m. Central time. This measure is being taken to ensure long-term protection of the paddlefish population.
An extended snag-and-release season will commence on May 10 and continue until May 16. During this period, those with unused tags can still participate in snagging activities, but they must release all caught fish immediately. Participants who have already used their tags to harvest a paddlefish are not permitted to join in the extended snag-and-release season.
