The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced $4,487,203 in funding for airport improvement projects at several airports across North Dakota. The grants are part of the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which supports planning and capital projects to enhance safety and maintain infrastructure at airports nationwide.
Among the recipients, the City of Williston will receive $1,024,246 to replace existing snow removal equipment with multi-tasking machinery. The City of Minot is set to obtain $602,865 for realigning Taxiway B by eight degrees to improve safety, reconstructing lighting on Runway 8/26, and rehabilitating over 6,000 feet of paved runway.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will get $600,000 for rehabilitating 3,700 feet of paved Runway 14/32. Washburn Municipal Airport Authority is allocated $355,084 to extend Taxiway A by 300 feet in order to meet current standards.
Other awards include $300,000 to Cando Municipal Airport Authority for resealing pavement on Runway 16/34; $287,375 to Bowman County Airport Authority for updating its airport layout plan; and $285,044 to Stanley Municipal Airport Authority for expanding the West Apron as part of a phased project.
Oakes Municipal Airport Authority will receive $275,000 for multiple resealing projects on runways and taxiways. Jamestown Regional Airport Authority is awarded $208,500 for resealing various taxiways and runways. Rugby Municipal Airport Authority gets $200,000 for similar pavement rehabilitation efforts.
Rolla Municipal Airport Authority will use its grant of $151,489 for replacing wind cones and lighting systems. Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority receives $99,750 toward design work related to apron pavement improvements. Northwood Municipal Airport Authority has been allocated $97,850 for phase one design of a new aircraft hangar aimed at supporting self-sustainability.
The FAA AIP provides funding to airports nationwide for planning, capital improvements and safety enhancements.
