The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2025-2026 Health Profession Scholarships. Thirty students were awarded the annual scholarship, and one student was recognized as the Health Care Leader recipient. This marks the eighth year of the initiative, which aims to support future health care professionals in North Dakota.
According to BCBSND, these scholarships are intended to help strengthen the state's health care workforce and improve access to quality care in local communities.
Last year’s recipient, Edwin Akomaning, described how the scholarship benefited him: “This scholarship was more than financial assistance—it was a vote of confidence in my goals and potential. It allowed me to focus fully on my public health studies and contribute to research that improves the lives of North Dakotans.”
Each Health Profession Scholarship is valued at $2,500 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Elizabell Delgado, a graduate pharmacy student at North Dakota State University, received this year’s Health Care Leader Scholarship. Delgado is noted for her commitment to expanding care access in rural areas and promoting pharmacy’s role in public health.
Applications for the next round of scholarships will open in August 2026. More information can be found at bcbsnd.com/scholarships.
