From Pride Collective and Community Center

From Pride Collective and Community Center:

This last weekend, on the eve of Transgender Day of Remembrance, with yet another horrific and senseless loss of lives due to gun violence, 5 people were murdered and 25 wounded at the Club Q, a bastion of LGBTQ pride and inclusivity in Colorado Springs, CO. Our hearts go out to the grieving family and friends who were so cruelly robbed of their loved ones, our thoughts and prayers go out to those still in the hospital recovering from this heinous act, and lastly we hope for peace and security to those who have been forever mentally scarred by this despicable display of bigotry. Condolences never feel like enough in the face of such unspeakable horror, though sadly it often may be all that we have to give. In the span of mere minutes, the perpetrator was able to inflict hateful and irreparable damage to the Colorado community, as well as the LGBTQ community at large. On a national scale, this has understandably shaken many queer individuals and deprived many others of any sense of safety. More and more, though, this just shows the ever present and growing need to spread love and empathy, denounce hatred and violence in all forms, and to come together to build a stronger and safer future for all — even in a world that seems to always be taking 2 steps back. We understand that winter and the holiday season can be difficult for many as is, so FM Pride Collective and Community Center wants to also remind anyone struggling or who may be the victim of violence or harassment that there are resources available to you, and there are people who care about and celebrate you. No one should have to feel unsafe or unaccepted, and you are never alone. (However, please call the police if you feel you are in immediate danger!) Pride Collective and Community Center's doors are open every weekend, 12-4pm. And we are reachable anytime by email info@fmpridecollective.org or via our website fmpridecollective.org. There will be a candlelight vigil held for Tuesday November 22nd at 6pm at Fargo Broadway Square.--------------------Rape and Abuse Crisis Center Fargo-Moorhead, 24-hr Crisis Line: 800-344-7273YWCA Cass Clay: 701.232.3449National Victims of Violent Crimes: 1-202-467-8700 Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741Trevor Project: Text START to 678-678Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: Call or Text 988
