Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced an enhancement to North Dakota's interactive local foods map. This update allows farmers markets to indicate whether they accept Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The initiative is supported by the North Dakota State University Extension Family Nutrition Program.

“The new information will help to increase access to local foods for all community members and connect them with North Dakota growers and producers,” said Goehring.

Farmers markets accepting SNAP benefits are encouraged to update their profiles on the map to reflect this new function. Markets not yet registered can find sign-up instructions on the website provided.

For inquiries about the map, individuals can contact Local Foods Marketing Specialist Jenna Nieters at jnieters@nd.gov or 701-328-2659.

The local foods map is accessible online.
