Senator John Hoeven recently facilitated a meeting between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Fargo Airport Authority members to discuss the Hector International Terminal Expansion project. The expansion, estimated at $155 million, plans to increase the terminal building to nine gates, expand the apron, and construct a new parking garage with an elevated walkway. Hoeven is advocating for over $80 million in federal funding for this initiative, anticipated to commence in spring 2024.
"The Fargo-Moorhead region is rapidly growing, both in terms of population and in economic activity. This growth means greater demand for air service and the need for updates and added facilities at Hector International to ensure safe and efficient travel for the region’s residents," said Hoeven. "We organized this meeting between FAA Airport Administrator Griffin and members of the Fargo Airport Authority to advance the terminal expansion project at Hector International."
The meeting included Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney, Fargo Airport Executive Director Shawn Dobberstein, North Dakota Aeronautics Commission Executive Director Kyle Wanner, Airport Authority Board Chair John Cosgriff, Airport Authority Board Member Rick Berg, Tom Schauer and Jeff Klein from Mead & Hunt, along with representatives from Senator Kevin Cramer’s office and Congressman Kelly Armstrong's office.
