The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture has awarded $250,000 to Cankdeska Cikana Community College (CCCC) under the New Beginning For Tribal Students (NBTS) program. This funding is aimed at providing laptops to students and enhancing student services through other grant programs.

The NBTS initiative seeks to improve retention and graduation rates among Tribal students attending 1194, 1862, and 1890 land-grant universities. During the COVID-19 pandemic, CCCC began distributing laptops to its students. Since then, the college has observed a significant increase in enrollment and graduation rates, with a 400% rise in summer enrollment and a 260% increase in graduation rates.
