The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a grant of $3.9 million to Hector International Airport. This funding, part of the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) Program, is designated for expanding the airport terminal by adding four new gates to handle more passengers.

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer expressed support for the expansion project, stating, "Hector International Airport’s expansion brings tremendous economic opportunity for the Red River Valley." He noted that the airport continues to set passenger records and that additional gates will provide more opportunities for travelers. "This award is another step towards completing the project and will add much-needed service capacity to help meet the growing demand for air travel in North Dakota," he added.

The AIG Program was created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aimed at providing airports with funds necessary for modernization and safety improvements.
