Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak of North Dakota took to the House Floor this week to commend Else Rike, a resident of Grand Forks, North Dakota, on her 101st birthday. Her remarks highlighted the significant contributions and enduring work ethic of Rike, who continues to prepare tax returns using traditional methods.

In her speech, Fedorchak expressed admiration for Rike’s longevity and dedication. Despite the celebration of her 101st year, Rike remains engaged in her work, utilizing a calculator and typewriter at her desk, a setting she has known for over seven decades.

"Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize an extraordinary North Dakota woman, Else Rike," Fedorchak stated. "She celebrated her 101st birthday this week!"

Acknowledging the rarity of such commitment in today’s digital age, Fedorchak noted, "While tax preparers today rely on software, Else relies on decades of experience and a deep knowledge of the tax code."

Else Rike's unwavering work ethic recently gained her recognition in a feature story by the Wall Street Journal. Fedorchak praised Rike’s long-standing contributions, emphasizing her embodiment of North Dakotan values. "This beautiful woman is proof that hard work and sharp thinking never go out of style," she said.

Concluding her message, Fedorchak expressed gratitude on behalf of her constituents. "On behalf of all North Dakotans, thank you Else for living our values and for showing us what true dedication looks like. And most importantly, Happy 101st Birthday, Else!" she said.
