Lane reductions on Centennial Road and Bismarck Expressway are set to start on April 25 due to the Interstate 94 Exit 161 Interchange project. The North Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction.
The construction work involves removing the current raised medians and replacing them with asphalt to prepare for future traffic adjustments and maintain flow during the project. Though pedestrian access will still be available, routes might change.
In addition, temporary traffic signals will be installed at Miriam Avenue and Trenton Drive. Motorists are urged to follow all posted signage and reduce speed through the work zone for safety.
The project began in spring 2024 and is expected to continue through summer 2026. It aims to improve traffic flow by removing two left-turn movements and adding right-turn loops for more efficient travel. In a statement, the NDDOT noted, "NDDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure project moves forward."
