North Dakota communities and organizations are invited to apply for the Fall 2025 Health Innovation Grants offered by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) Caring Foundation. These grants, previously known as SPARK Grants, provide funding of up to $50,000 for innovative projects that promote community well-being.
The grants are open to nonprofits, municipalities, or school districts in North Dakota that aim to support community-based health initiatives. The focus is on fostering collaboration and creating meaningful change through new or expanding programs.
The BCBSND Caring Foundation uses insights from its Social Drivers of Health report to guide these grants. This report highlights how environmental factors can impact overall health. By investing in local partnerships, the Foundation seeks to enhance healthy lifestyles and improve access to healthcare across the state.
“We’re always inspired by the creativity and commitment of organizations across North Dakota,” said Amber Blomberg, BCBSND Caring Foundation executive director. “These grants are designed to elevate those who are pushing boundaries and finding new ways to support well-being in our state.”
Eligible projects may address issues such as reducing recidivism, promoting inclusive physical education, increasing access to nutritious food, or providing mental health support.
Since 2021, over 30 organizations have benefited from nearly $1 million in funding through this grant program. Past recipients include F5 Project, Strengthen ND, TNT Kid’s Fitness, GiGi’s Playhouse, SENDCAA, NATIVE Inc., Women Empowering Women and Northland Health Centers.
Interested applicants must submit letters of intent by 5 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, July 31. Eligible applicants include North Dakota-based nonprofits with a 501(c)(3) status, municipal entities like park boards or public health departments, and school systems.
