The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) announced that traffic on the Interstate 94/Red River bridge will shift from the outside lanes to the inside lanes on Friday, August 1. This lane change is part of ongoing repairs under the I-94/Red River Structure Repair Project.

To facilitate this switch, I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, as crews adjust traffic control equipment for the new pattern. After this work is completed, two lanes in each direction will reopen.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signs and exercise caution while driving through the work zone.

According to NDDOT, "The I-94/Red River Structure Repair Project involves crucial structural upgrades to the I-94 bridge connecting Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota. The project aims to enhance the driving experience, extend the bridge's lifespan, and improve safety with key upgrades. Work is scheduled to conclude in October 2025."

Additional traffic impacts are expected throughout the duration of construction. Updates and more information about the project can be found at https://dot.nd.gov/I-94RedRiver.
